Ghana’s Emmanuel Gyasi’s scored for Empoli in their win over Fiorentina

Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Gyasi marked his inaugural goal of the season in the Italian Serie A and also notched his first-ever goal for Empoli FC during their away victory on Monday.

Gyasi, entering the match as a substitute, secured the final goal, ensuring Empoli claimed all three points in a 2-0 triumph over Fiorentina. This victory marked Empoli’s second win of the campaign.

The seasoned striker, Francesco Caputo, kicked off the scoring at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, giving Empoli the lead after 21 minutes. Although Caputo found the net again just before half-time, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review.

Gyasi entered the match in the 78th minute, taking the place of Italian youngster Matteo Cancellieri. Shortly thereafter, the 29-year-old former Ghana international made his mark on the scoresheet, sealing the victory by converting an assist from Jacopo Fazzini.

Ghanaian compatriot Alfred Duncan played a pivotal role for Fiorentina, featuring for 73 minutes before being replaced by Rolando Mandragora.

Empoli’s Monday night victory has elevated them out of the relegation zone, propelling them to the 17th position in the league standings.
