Dr. Kyei has plans to settle Kotoko debts – Deputy Accra rep Nana Dankwah

The National Circles Council of Asante Kotoko have recently written to request to support the club in the face of its increasing problems.

The supporter’s wing says efforts to assist the club in these difficult times have proved futile because Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei has refused to answer their calls.

The NCC says they have made frantic attempts to personally reach Dr. Kwame Kyei but all have been met with concrete walls of frustrations.

In a recent interview with Oyerepa FM, the NCC P.R.O. Osei Owusu says all attempts to reach Kwame Kyei have failed hence their last resort of writing to management to work out a way to help.

“We have been trying to get in touch with Dr. Kwame Kyei but to no avail so have written to management on issues”.

“He’s not picking our calls and we have tried his office and house but to no avail.”

“We want to help management pay for the $240,000 so we want to meet him discuss how we can contribute”.

“We just looking for his approval”, he concluded.

In a related development, Deputy Greater Accra Representative for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwah has assured supporters of the club that Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei is making arrangements to settle the $240,000 fine the club has been slapped with by FIFA.

In an interview with Joy FM, he remarked that Dr. Kyei will settle the debts and that the current coronavirus pandemic was the best off times to take money from supporters.

“Our supporters should remain calm. There is no cause for alarm. In fact, the Chairman is just organizing himself to pay the money”,

“The supporters front even wrote to Management for permission to organise fundraising but looking at the situation [vis-à-vis COVID-19], people are not working. So, taking money from the fans is not appropriate”, the deputy Accra rep shared.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have barely a month to settle their outstanding debts or face demotion to the lower leagues of Ghana football.

The Ghana Premier League is currently suspended as the whole country is in a state of lockdown in communal efforts to battle the growing pandemic.

A total of 1042 cases have been confirmed, 99 persons fully recovered whiles 9 persons dead.
