Black Satellites head coach, Desmond Ofei has expressed joy at escaping Group B for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana was selected for Group A alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzania, DR Congo, and an unnamed UNIFFAC zone country.

Group B has a lot of African powerhouses such as Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria.

Holders Sengal, Zambia, Kenya and Sierra Leone make up Group C of the competition.

Speaking in a recent media interview, Coach Ofei was happy his side wasn’t drawn in Group B which would have been difficult considering the tough sides they would have come up against.

“We’re happy that we’re not in group B because that’s a very interesting group. I feel like we’re in a position where we can control the narrative of this tournament from our perspective,”

“The only downside is that we’re in a group of five and we would have to play one extra game compared to the other groups but in all, I think we’re in a good position to manage the situation and the narrative quite well,” he told Joy News’ Prime Sports.
