The coach of the Central African Republic, Raoul Savoy, has issued a cautionary message to Ghana ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Savoy’s team is set to face Ghana in a match they must win on Thursday in order to secure a spot in the upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast.

He cited a previous victory against Nigeria in Abuja as proof of their ability to overcome stronger opponents. In the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, they pulled off an unexpected 1-0 win against Nigeria in October 2021.

“Nigeria never anticipated our victory on their home ground, but we achieved it,” he stated during Wednesday’s press conference prior to the match.”

“You never know what we’re capable of. I hold Ghana in high regard because they are clearly a stronger footballing nation than us. However, football is a beautiful game, and it’s full of surprises every time, every day.”

Meanwhile, Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, affirmed, “We [Black Stars] will do everything we can to secure qualification.”

Although a draw would be enough to ensure qualification for the Black Stars, Hughton emphasized the significance of seizing the opportunity to partake in the World Cup.
