Ghana Premier League club, Dreams FC were left to pick up the pieces as they 2-0 away to Tunisian heavyweight club, Club Africain at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi Stadium.

The Ghanaian club was making its first appearance in Africa’s club competition with the hope of giving a good account of themselves following Medeama SC’s loss to Al Ahly in its sister competition.

Solomon Agbasi was given the nod in the post, flanked by Eric Boateng, Seth Agyemang, Abdul Jalilu, Aholou Avocevou in defense, Godfred Atuahene, Emmanuel Agyei, Agyenim Boateng, John Antwi, Abdul Azizi and Ofori McCarthy in attack.

The Tunisian club drew the first blood of the game as Bassem Srarfi wiggled his way past the visitors’ defense and did a nice cutback for Tayeb Meziani to tap in an early lead on the 5th-minute mark.

Nigerian forward, Kingsley Eduwo shot from the edge of the eighteen-yard box was poorly handled by goalkeeper, Solomon Agbasi, who would have a sleepless night about how he failed to keep the second goal out for his side.

Abdul Jalilu was shown his marching orders after a second bookable offense in the 59th minute, nineteen minutes apart from his first booking of the game.

The host dominated proceedings which saw them earn 55% possession, eight goal attempts, three on-target, and five off-target similar to the Dawu-based club who failed to at least kick in a goal after three shots on target in the game.

Dreams FC will hope to better their quest in the Confederations Cup as they welcome Rivers United from Nigeria for the second group game on December 3, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
