Former Ghana captain Charles Akonnor has ruled himself out of contention for the vacant Black Stars role.

Otto Addo was sacked by the Ghana Football Association following  a string of poor results.

He superintened four consecutive losses of friendly games before a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuggart in March, 2026.

Akonnor in a recent interview has distanced himself from taking up the vacant position of the Black Stars.

“I am with Gor Mahia. I’m very happy and doing well. We are fighting for the title, and that is where my focus is,” he ended.

Gor Mahia leads the table with 57 points in 26 games in the Kenyan Premier League.
