NSA Acting Director General,Prof Sarpong has backed long-term plans of demolition Accra Sports Stadium.

In recent times there have been wide spread calls for the Stadium to be demolished to make way for the reconstruction of a new befitting edifice for the country.

Speaking amid ongoing concerns over the stadium’s condition, Prof. Sarpong acknowledged that the venue faces significant engineering challenges.

He described the Accra Sports Stadium as “a very good place” but noted that problems cannot be resolved all at once.

“In the interim, we cannot break Accra Sports Stadium down,” he said. “So we need to look at the gaps one after the other and solve them gradually until we are sure the majority of the gaps are [addressed].”

Prof. Sarpong’s stance aligns with broader NSA plans to renovate Ghana’s five major stadia in phases by the end of 2027, with Accra and Essipong among the first priorities. READ MORE:
