Ghanaian forward Daniella Abass has added another major achievement to her growing football journey after emerging as the Golden Boot winner of the Cheetah Cup 2026 with Valued Girls.
Abass finished the tournament as the leading scorer after netting two goals, playing a key role in Valued Girls’ impressive run to the final of the women’s competition.
Beyond her goals, the young striker produced a remarkable individual campaign, with Valued Girls players winning the Player of the Match award in all four of their matches at the tournament.
Abass herself was recognised for her outstanding contribution, winning the Player of the Match award in the semi-final after scoring the only goal that sent Valued Girls into the final with a 1-0 victory over Sissamba Ladies.
The team’s Player of the Match dominance started from the group stage, with Jacqueline Amponsah earning the award in their opening match against Cabfix Ladies FC, a game Valued Girls won 2-0, with Abass also getting on the scoresheet.
In their second group game against El-Wonder Ladies FC, Amira Yakubu was named Player of the Match after Valued Girls secured a 2-1 victory to progress to the semi-finals.
Amira Yakubu continued her impressive tournament in the final, winning another Player of the Match award despite Valued Girls suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Nigeria’s FEFCAN Ladies in the title decider.
The individual recognition capped a memorable tournament for Valued Girls, with Abass taking home the Golden Boot and her teammates collecting multiple Player of the Match awards across their campaign.
The achievement adds to an already impressive journey for Abass, who was part of Ghana’s historic U-15 girls’ team that won the 2025 African Schools Football Championship (ASFC) title.
In the final against Uganda at the University of Ghana Stadium, Abass scored one of Ghana’s goals alongside Belinda Kpentey as the young side secured a historic 2-0 victory to lift the trophy.
Her performances have also earned her national recognition, with Abass included in the Black Maidens squad that helped Ghana qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled for October 17 to November 7, 2026.
From African Schools Football success to Cheetah Cup glory, Daniella Abass continues to establish herself as one of Ghana’s promising young attacking talents with a bright future ahead.
