Ghana’s Black Maidens returned to winning ways in the WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup with a commanding 4-0 victory over Togo in their third match of the competition on Monday, September 21, 2026.
After suffering a 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in their previous fixture, Ghana responded with a dominant performance, scoring twice in each half to secure all three points and strengthen their position in the tournament.
The Black Maidens wasted no time asserting their authority, taking the lead just four minutes into the game through Gloria Adomako Ameaa, who continued her impressive scoring form at the tournament.
Captain Seidatu Wahab doubled Ghana’s advantage in the 11th minute, calmly converting from the penalty spot to give the defending champions a comfortable early lead.
Substitute Linda Achiaa made an instant impact after coming on, scoring twice in the second half. She found the back of the net in the 59th minute before completing her brace in the 69th minute to seal a convincing victory for Ghana.
The result further highlighted the attacking quality of the Black Maidens, with Gloria Adomako Ameaa and captain Seidatu Wahab both now on three goals each in the tournament.
Gloria has scored in three consecutive matches — against Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Togo — while Seidatu has also found the net in Ghana’s opening three fixtures, including from the penalty spot against Burkina Faso and Togo and a direct free kick against Nigeria.
The victory comes as a major boost for Ghana, who are defending their WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup title in a league format this year. Following Benin’s withdrawal, the champion will be decided by the final league standings after all matches are completed.
The Black Maidens will now shift their focus to their remaining group fixtures as they continue their quest to retain the regional title and secure qualification through the competition’s pathway to the 2027 U17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
