Baba Rahman scores to help PAOK retain top spot in Greece

Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman continued his impressive performance in the Greek Super League, contributing to PAOK’s 2-2 draw against rivals AEK Athens. The 29-year-old has not only regained his form but has also started scoring goals.

Rahman, currently the highest-scoring defender in the Greek League, initiated PAOK’s comeback with a remarkable strike from just outside the penalty box after AEK Athens had taken a 2-0 lead.

This crucial goal revitalized his team, and he was instrumental in the buildup that led to Magomed Ozdoyev’s 89th-minute equalizer, securing a valuable point for PAOK.

With six goals and three assists from left-back in 36 games this season, Rahman is the highest-scoring Ghanaian defender in Europe.

As PAOK competes for both the league title and the Europa Conference League, Rahman could potentially play over 45 games this season, a significant achievement considering his previous struggles with fitness.

Reports from England earlier in the week indicated that Brentford had dispatched scouts to observe Rahman, recognizing his exceptional form and Premier League experience, as they seek a left-back for the upcoming season.

Once hailed as the best left-back in his age group, Rahman’s progress was hindered by injuries, and his move to Chelsea did not aid his development.

However, in recent years, he has recovered his fitness and is now delivering game-changing performances in both domestic and European competitions.
