Asante Kotoko remove image of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on new club kit

The Management of Asante Kotoko have as a matter of urgency been directed by Manhyia to remove the image of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II from their unreleased jersey ahead of the new football season.

The Kotoko leadership viewed it as an honour to appreciate the long-standing tradition, relationship, and commitment of the celebrated Ashanti kingdom’s ruler and hence printed his image on samples of their new jerseys for the new season.

But right after samples of the intended jersey were released, it was met with mixed reactions from some quarters of the football landscape, whiles some viewed it as a positive outlook in appreciating the wise King, others opposed it, one such was, King Faisal bankroller, Alhaji Karim Grunsah.

This week, the management of the club were locked in a meeting with Manhyia from which they have been asked to remove, the Life Patron’s image from the jersey.

In a post sighted by Saharafootball.net, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions have decided to get rid of the image of Otumfuo from the jerseys.

“We have after further considerations in collaboration with Errea amended our 2022/23 Kits. Kum Apem a Apem Beba” the club tweeted.

The Porcupine Warriors will leave the shores of the country on August,15, to Turkey in a bid to start early preparations for their title defence and African continental club quest.

Some key players that helped the team win the Ghana Premier League, Fabio Gama, Kwame Baah,Mudasiru Salifu have left the club with Imoro Ibrahim and Danlad Ibrahim subject to being prised out by Al Hillal in the coming days.
