Asante Kotoko are the only club in Ghana eligible to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup if Medeama decides not to play in the African Competition.
The Ghana FA released a statement on Friday night confirming that Ashantigold cannot play in the CAF Confederation cup even if they win the FA Cup because of their failure to apply on time.
The statement also confirmed that Asante Kotoko is the only club that can replace Medeama since they are one of the clubs that received approval to play in CAF Competitions next season.
However, Asante Kotoko fans want their club to reject the offer and focus on building the squad and other projects the club is currently working on.
Asante Kotoko have represented Ghana in Africa numerous times in the last few years but made it only to the group stages of the competition two years ago under the guidance of CK Akonnor, which was Kotoko’s first appearance in the CAF CC group stages after ten years.
