    Asante Kotoko CEO Position

It’s been close to a month since the Chief Executive Officer position of Kumasi Asante Kotoko became vacant following the expiration of George Amoako’s mandate at the helm of affairs.

A lot of names were linked to the job, Samuel Osei Kuffour, George Afriyie, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Fred Acheampong, Kojo Addai Mensah, Ben Nti, Christopher Damenya just to name a few.

The Kotoko hierarchy including its massive followers eyed George Afriyie for the CEO position but he quickly moved to squashed those circling rumors in a statement saying “In the aftermath of the GFA Presidential elections, I received several calls from Kotoko faithful and followers urging me to consider taking up the position of the CEO of the club. But, I want to state that I have currently taken up a commitment which would not permit me to take up the role”, the astute football warlord stated.

This news punched the hearts of many in and around the Red Devils fraternity knowing very well they missed out on an experienced administrator

Following that announcement by the former GFA hopeful, an ex-board member, Ambassador, Kabral Blay, and others favored what could have been the appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah as Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

But it’s all looking like a new paradigm shift as chances of NYA landing one of the prestigious jobs in Ghana football now looks slim if not lost already.

According to Kwame Aboagye Mensah, NYA might not be considered because he falters in his information management skills.

“Everyone should take note that Asante Kotoko is a big brand and it can’t work with someone who is not secretive,” he told Opemsuo FM

The brilliant, affable Nana Yaw Amponsah may rue this opportunity but hopefully, it’s a learning template for other jobs in the future.

With this new development, the search for a new CEO will linger on for a while, Manhyia will have to cast it’s net near and afar to catch a personality that will help forge Kotoko, new board, fans to higher heights.
