Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan believes Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen should be crowned 2023 African Footballer of the Year.

The Nigerian striker took the Italian Serie A by storm aiding his side to their first trophy in thirty years.

Osimhen went on to bag the top scorers’ award becoming the first African to win the coveted trophy in Italy.

Hearts of Oak appoint Martin Hendrikus Wilhemus Koopman as new headcoach

Following those club and individual accomplishments, legendary Ghanaian striker, Asamoah Gyan believes that, Osimhen should pip the other contenders for the 2023 African Footballer of the Year award.

“For me, he deserves it. As a striker and seeing what he is doing, for the first time in over 30 years, winning the league with Napoli. He deserves it,” he told Brilla FM.

Osimhen will go head-to-head with two North African players, Riyad Mahrez and Yassine Bounou for the award.
