Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Maurice Quansah, has shared his opinion on circling issues regarding the future of former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, who is keen on playing for the country ahead of 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This week Gyan in an interview with BBC Sports disclosed his readiness in playing for the country should he be able to race against time for the global showpiece.

Quansah, on the other hand, claimed that Gyan wouldn’t be healthy in time to complicate Addo’s selection process in an interview with Joy Sports.

According to him, the time frame is very short for Gyan to be able to present the current head coach, Otto Addo with a selection dilemma for the World Cup.

“I wonder if he [Asamoah Gyan] will be able to get himself in that peak condition to get Otto Addo to look in his direction,” he said.

“At his peak, he was a fantastic footballer. He gave his best to football and to the nation. We want to remember him for all the good memories he gave us than just trying to push himself into the national team.

“The Black Stars are going through transition and I don’t think Otto Addo and the coaches are looking in that direction.” he told JoySports

Gyan would relish the opportunity of playing for the last time with the BlackStars as he has unfinished business with the side.
