    Alex Djiku finally joins BlackStars squad after injury scare

    Otto Addo has been handed a huge boost ahead of the Black Stars double header against Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series following the arrival of Alexander Djiku.

     



    Otto Addo named his 26-man squad on Wednesday, 29, May 2024 but he received only 24 players at the time camp opened in Accra.

    Osman Bukari, finalizing a move to MLS side, Austin FC from Serbia club, Red Star Belgrade is in camp now.

    However, the arrival of the Turkey-based defender, Alex Djiku in camp is said to be a massive boost for the technical team and playing body who view him as an integral figure in the setup.

    WATCH BLACK STARS DAY TWO TRAINING :

    Having missed the first two days of training, Djiku will be closely monitored by the medical team of the Black Stars before the nod is given for nod to train with the others at the University of Ghana Stadium.

    Alexander Djiku has made 27 appearances and scored two goals for Ghana.

    The team is expected to wrap up the first half of their preparations and leave the shores of the country on June, 4 readying up for the crunch encounter against Mali at the Stade 26 Mars on June 6, 2024.

    They will then go head-to-head against Central African Republic four days later at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

    Ghana is currently in fourth place in Group I, having earned three points out of a possible six, with Comoros leading the group with six points.
