Emerse Fae picked up the Best Coach of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after historically leading his home nation to an impressive victory on home soil over Nigeria.

The former France international took over the reins of the top job after Jean-Louis Gasset nearly led the host on the brink of elimination after some subpar performance which saw them lose heavily at the hands of Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria.

Fae had a big mantle against defending champions, Senegal, which he delivered through penalties.

Followed up with an impressive win over Mali after extra time and a semi-final victory over DR Congo with the winner coming through Sebastian Haller.

The host faced familiar foes, Nigeria in the finals and this time, captain, William Troost-Ekong put them in front seven minutes before halftime.

Kessie restored the host on the level in the 62nd minute to send the home fans believing they could win the most coveted trophy on the African continent.

Brighton player, Adingra, who had been a constant thorn in the flesh of the Super Eagles players teed up Sebastian Haller for the match-winner.
