Boateng has been in a very good shape after his return to Rio Ave, earning them some good points.

The Ghanaian striker missed out on the provisional 55 man list coach Otto Addo presented last week.

His Ghanaian compatriot Abdul Aziz Yakubu also missed out on a call up even though he is on some wild form.

The last time Boateng  played for the Black Stars was in March 2021 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

WAFU B U17: Ghana 0-1 Ivory Coast

Published

on

The Black Starlets suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship on Tuesday, ending their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Starlets were forced to play with 10 men from the 17th minute after defender Daniel Owusu received a straight red card for an avoidable tackle on an Ivorian striker. Despite the early setback, Ghana showed resilience and remained competitive throughout the encounter at the 4th August Stadium in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Kassim Ocansey’s side held their own and created decent scoring opportunities in both halves. Striker Alidu Issah had a golden opportunity to put Ghana ahead but failed to hit the target, squandering what proved to be one of the Black Starlets’ best chances of the match.

Ivory Coast eventually broke the deadlock in the 76th minute through Alex Fousseni Bamba, who fired home from close range to give his side the decisive advantage.

The Starlets pushed desperately for an equaliser in the closing stages, refusing to surrender despite being a man down. David Kwarteng came close to restoring parity after beautifully controlling a pass from Prince Apam, but his effort narrowly missed the post.

The defeat ends the Black Starlets’ hopes of reaching the final and securing qualification for the 2027 U17 AFCON. Ivory Coast, meanwhile, have booked their place in the tournament final and secured a ticket to the continental competition in Morocco.

For Ghana, the disappointment will be difficult to swallow after an unbeaten group-stage campaign in which they recorded victories over Togo and Benin before drawing with hosts Burkina Faso.

The Starlets will now have to shift attention to the 3rd-place final with the loser of the Niger-Burkina Faso clash.

Former Cabfix Ladies FC captain Hannah Quaye joins Bnot Tamra in Israel

Published

on

Former Cabfix Ladies FC captain Hannah Quaye has signed for Israeli side Bnot Tamra Sports Club, marking a new chapter in her football career.

The left-footed midfielder will represent the Tamra-based club until the end of the season, becoming the first Cabfix Ladies player to secure an international professional contract.

Quaye recently joined Clava Sports Consult, the agency that facilitated her move to Israel, opening a new chapter in her career after her time with the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Women’s Division One side.

The midfielder overcame a lengthy injury layoff to return to action for Cabfix Ladies during the 2025/26 season, helping the club finish third in the league despite featuring for only a short period after her recovery. Her contribution was recognised when she was named Cabfix Ladies’ Most Valuable Player on the final day of the competition.

She also helped the club secure a bronze medal at the 2026 Cheetah Cup during pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Known for her powerful long-range goals and left-footed ability in midfield, Quaye established herself as an influential figure at Cabfix Ladies, serving as captain and playing an important role in the club’s progress during its three-year journey.

Hannah was the first Cabfix Ladies player to receive a national team call-up when she was invited to join Ghana’s U-20 women’s team in 2025 for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. However, an injury forced her out of contention before she could complete the campaign.

In 2026, the club’s creative winger Jessica Benni represented Ghana at the CAF African Schools Football Championship in Zimbabwe, while goalkeeper Belinda Maku Aklie is currently part of Ghana’s squad at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Quaye’s move to Bnot Tamra presents an opportunity to gain international experience, continue developing her game and showcase her quality in Israeli football.

Her move is also a significant milestone for Cabfix Ladies, as the former captain takes the next step in her career on the international stage.
