Zamalek defeat RS Berkane to win second CAF Confederation Cup title

Zamalek SC secured their second CAF Confederation Cup title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Moroccan side RS Berkane in the second leg of the final at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

Midfielder Ahmed Hamdi scored the decisive goal in the 23rd minute with a well-placed shot, leading his team to victory.

Despite a 2-1 loss in the first leg in Morocco, the White Knights won the title on the away goals rule, with the aggregate score tied at 2-2. This marks Zamalek’s second Confederation Cup win, having also defeated Berkane in 2019.

The match started intensely, with Zamalek creating several early chances, though Nabil Emad and Ibrahima Ndiaye were unable to convert them.

Hamdi’s goal gave Zamalek a crucial lead, and despite Berkane’s efforts, Zamalek’s strong defense held firm. Hamdi was substituted in the first half due to a knee injury, and his replacement, Youssef Obama, missed a significant chance to extend the lead before halftime.
