U23 AFCON: Black Meteors lose to Ivory Coast on penalties

The Black Meteors of Ghana will have to wait for third place battle to secure a ticket for Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing semifinals clash against Ivory Coast on Tuesday.

Ghana fought back twice to take the game against Ivory Coast to extra time and eventually a penalty shootout, but the Black Meteors once again fell short as they lost 3-2 on penalties.

The Black Meteors will know their opponents in the third-place battle when Egypt face South Africa, the loser will play Ghana in the third-place game while the winner will face Ivory Coast in the U23 AFCON finals.

There are only slots for the 2020 Olympics and Ghana needs to win the third-place battle to secure their slot in the tournament.
