Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has revealed why he chose to play for Ghana Black Stars and not for England.

The 22-year-old who switched allegiance a few months ago was part of the Ghana Black Stars squad that featured in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Lamptey while on a holiday visit to Ghana was asked when and why he decided to play for the Ghana Black Stars, and the player revealed that the reception he got from Ghanaians during his visit was one of the main reasons he decided to play for Ghana.

” I think there was a number of things that came into it until exactly when it happened. But one of the big pushes was when I was doing my charity foundation and the match tournament; you see the people and it is just an amazing feeling that they give you” he told Citi FM

Tariq Lamptey didn’t feature much for Brighton in the league this season and has been out injured for the last couple of weeks.
