The Portuguese side announced that Abdul Fatawu’s new contract comes with a 60 million euros release clause as they believe the 18-year old is destined for greatness.

“Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, 18, is a reinforcement for Sporting Clube de Portugal. The footballer from Ghana has signed for five seasons and has a release clause of 60 million euros, having been presented this Wednesday at the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, in Alcochete.” The club statement says

Abdul Fatawu was scouted by several English clubs and was reportedly close to joining English side Liverpool before talks broke down.

The player however landed a deal with Sporting CP last year but couldn’t sign an official contract until he was 18.

Fatawu played in the Ghana Premier League for few months until he turned 18 before traveling back to Portugal to pen an official contract.
