Special Competition: Kotoko 2-0 Ashgold: Fatawu’s brace end Miners unbeaten run

Asante Kotoko registered their first home victory against Ashgold since 2015 after a great performance at the Baba Yara Stadium, Abdul Fatawu scored twice to give his team all three points.

Felix Annan was the hero in the first half after some fantastic goalkeeping, he pulled a brilliant save to deny Shafiu Mumuni from opening the scoring.

Abdul Fatawu and Ganiyu had the opportunity to put their team in front but couldn’t convert their chances.

Shafiu Mumuni’s effort was stopped again by Felix Annan just few minutes before the half time.

The scoreline remained goalless as both teams went into the dressing room for the break.

Fatawu opened the scoring in the 72nd minute with a great finish inside the Ashgold penalty box.

The striker added his second goal of the day six minutes later after rounding the Ashgold keeper to put his team in a commanding position.

Ashgold made several attempts at goal but failed to find the back of the net.
