South Africa sports minister  Tokozile Xasa revealed that her country are intterested in hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

She said her country are willing to welcome host the competition and welcome other countries only if CAF asks them to.

“We are indeed interested in taking over the hosting of the Afcon next year.We have all the infrastructure and stadiums to host this kind of event like we did in 2010 with the Fifa World Cup,” she told the press on Saturday in Ghana after Banyana Banyana lost 4-3 on penalties to Nigeria.

“It’s up to Caf to approach us but as far as we are concerned we are ready to take over from Cameroon.”

She added that South Africa would not tender in a bid to host next year Africa Cup of Nations;”We won’t bid for the hosting rights, Caf must come to us and we will consider hosting but we won’t bid for the rights to host.”

CAF earlier denied Cameroon the chance to host the competition. South Africa, Morocco and Egypt are the countries that stand a better chance of claiming the hosting rights.
