Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh explained why Stephen Amankona isn’t a regular starter in his side after the winger failed to make an appearance in their win against King Faisal.

Stephen Amankona sat on the bench and watched Patrick Asmah play at the left-wing in the second half as Kotoko narrowly beat King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

“Stephen Amankona is trying to get to the level I expect him to play,” Narteh said

“If you don’t play at the level we all expect you to play, you don’t play, that’s it.”

“This is Kumasi Asante Kotoko, this is the team we compare to Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Esperance. They are playing in the Champions League, look at the qualities of the players there”

“So if you don’t get to that level, that is it” he added.

Amankona has struggled to cement his spot at the first team since the player completed a move from Berekum Chelsea.
