The match, held in Bouake, concluded dramatically, with the referee utilizing video assistance to nullify a goal by Victor Osimhen that would have granted Nigeria a 2-0 lead. Instead, a penalty was awarded to South Africa.

Teboho Mokoena successfully converted the penalty in the 90th minute, resulting in extra time. However, Mokoena, along with another South African player, had their penalty kicks saved by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, leading to Nigeria’s triumph.

The Super Eagles will now await the winner of the match between Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo for Sunday’s final showdown.
