Mohammed Salisu’s Monaco secures a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu is poised to feature in Europe’s top-tier competition next season, having played a pivotal role in Monaco’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Salisu demonstrated his defensive prowess in Monaco’s crucial Ligue 1 clash against Montpellier on Sunday, playing the entire 90 minutes and making a significant impact in their 2-0 victory.

Operating on the left side of a three-man defense, Salisu’s commanding performance helped Monaco secure a clean sheet, which was crucial in their win.

Although the first half of the match was evenly contested, Monaco took control in the second half, with Kassoum Outtarra opening the scoring seven minutes after the break.

Despite Montpellier’s attempts to get back into the game, Monaco’s solid defense, led by Salisu, stood firm. Monaco extended their lead when Youssouf Fofana scored in the 65th minute, sealing the victory.

With this result, Monaco finished second in the Ligue 1 standings, behind only champions Paris Saint-Germain, ensuring their place in the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.

This achievement is a significant milestone for Salisu, who joined Monaco from Southampton last year. Despite facing initial injury setbacks, Salisu made a successful comeback in December and has since become a key figure in Monaco’s defense.

Despite his injury struggles, Salisu’s resilience and talent have been evident, earning him 12 appearances in all competitions this season, along with one assist.
