Mariano Barreto refuses to criticize Sarkodie’s performance against Medeama

Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto refused to single out Emmanuel Sarkodie following a poor midfield display against Medeama on Saturday.

Barreto suffered his first defeat against a very good Medeama side on Sunday as his side lose the top spot on the league table.

Talking about the game, Barreto singled Emmanuel Sarkodie and praised him for his performance against Great Olympics but failed to single him out after the midfielder was subbed at halftime against Medeama.

“For me, it was surprising because they did well against Olympics; it was the same midfield but of course Mudasiru is not here today”

“Sarkodie did a very good job against Olympics but unfortunately today our midfield was not so good”

“But this is football, unfortunately, it happens. I hope we learn from this, we have lost our position on the table but we will fight for recovery” he added.

Emmanuel Sarkodie has been heavily criticized for his series of underwhelming performances in recent games.
