Kurt Okraku and Chris Hughton visit Black Queens ahead of WAFCON qualifier

Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, along with Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), visited the Black Queens during their training session on Tuesday, November 29, 2023.

The distinguished visitors interacted with the 22 players present on the initial day of training, providing words of encouragement in preparation for their upcoming match against Namibia.

The complete squad is set to assemble on Wednesday for an extensive training session. Notably, Evelyn Badu and Susan Ama Duah arrived on Tuesday but did not participate in the team’s training.

The Black Queens are gearing up to face Namibia on Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (WAFCON). The first leg of the qualifier will be hosted in Accra, with the return leg scheduled in Namibia.

With a determination to end the qualification drought since hosting the tournament in 2018, Ghana is focused on overcoming Namibia and securing their spot in the WAFCON, aiming to put an end to the qualifying challenges that have persisted since 2018.

Meanwhile, Hughton is anticipated to lead the Black Stars in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2023.
