Abdul Karim Zito, the head coach of Dreams FC, acknowledges that winning the 2023 FA Cup was not an easy task.

Zito motivated his team to secure their first major trophy by defeating King Faisal 2-0 at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

In the 18th minute, Agyenim Boateng provided a pass to Abdul Aziz Issah, who skillfully scored to give Dreams FC the lead.

Sadiq Alhassan, a former player of Karela FC, then scored in the 70th minute to increase their advantage. Despite King Faisal’s efforts to find a goal and get back into the game, they struggled to break through Dreams FC’s determined defense.

Zito revealed that the experience of fighting relegation in the Premier League in the past and staying in the FA Cup had been a challenging endeavor.

“Without hard work, there can be no achievement. It was incredibly difficult, especially when we found ourselves at the bottom of the league.”

“This made the task even more demanding for me, but I managed to separate the two competitions. I focused on the league first, and after finishing in 6th place, which is a club record, we shifted our attention to the championship.”

“Today, I am grateful to God that we have emerged as winners,” he said, speaking to  StarTimes.

As the champions of the FA Cup, Dreams FC have earned a place in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
