Jordan Ayew surpasses John Paintsil to become Ghana’s fourth-most capped player

Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew achieved a noteworthy milestone in his international career by becoming Ghana’s fourth-highest capped player.

This came after he made a substitute appearance in the team’s 3-1 triumph over Liberia on Tuesday.

At 32 years old, Ayew surpassed John Paintsil, who previously held the record with 91 appearances, reaching an impressive 92 caps for the Ghanaian national team.

On the all-time appearance list for Ghana, Jordan Ayew now stands behind footballing icons Andre Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, and Richard Kingson.

Ayew’s impactful substitution in the Liberia match not only increased his cap count but also left a significant mark on the scoreline.

Entering the game in the 62nd minute for Ernest Nuamah, Jordan Ayew netted a goal in the 82nd minute, contributing to Ghana’s third goal.

This goal brought his tally to 20 goals for the Black Stars.

Jordan Ayew’s journey with the Black Stars commenced in 2010 when he made his debut during a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Eswatini.
