Accra Lions FC have completed the loan transfer of Ghanaian youngster Jordan Ayimbila to American side San Antonio FC, the club announced on Thursday.

The 21-year-old left-back is expected to last a season-long loan at the USL Championship until the end of the 2022 season with an option to make the deal permanent.

Ayimbila returned to the Ghana Premier League club in December 2021 after a successful loan spell at Malaysian club Selangor FC in the 2021 season.

The highly-rated defender made 17 appearances and provided one assist in the Malaysian Super League during his stint in the Southeast Asian country.

“We are pleased to announce the loan transfer of left-back Jordan Ayimbila to San Antonio FC for the 2022 USL Championship season, in the United States. Jordan had a successful loan spell with Malaysian outfit Selangor during the 2021 season.

“He returned to his mother club Accra Lions before moving on to the United States. We wish him the best of luck in his new challenge”

Ayimbila joined Selangor on January 2021 while Lions were in the hunt for top-flight football.

He becomes the third player to be transferred from the club in the last few weeks after Rauf Salifu, Joseph Addo Tetteh and Christopher Acheampong.

Salifu and Tetteh joined American side Sporting Kansas City while Acheampong moved to Bulgarian club CSKA 1948 Sofia.
