Jeremie Frimpong confirms Ghana approached him prior to Holland debut

Jeremie Frimpong has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association approached him about potentially switching nationalities.

However, he turned down the offer as he awaited his debut with the Netherlands national team. Despite having the option to represent Ghana, the Netherlands, and England internationally, the Dutch-born Ghanaian chose to play for the Oranges.

Frimpong made his senior debut for the Dutch national team in the Euro qualifiers against France in October, closing the door on Ghana’s pursuit of his services.

Despite a conversation with the Ghanaian coach, Frimpong had already made up his mind. The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, contributing 13 goals across all competitions for the German team.
