Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a significant setback after Mohammed Kudus was ruled out until April following a quad tendon injury sustained in last weekend’s Premier League clash.
The Ghanaian winger was forced off after just 19 minutes of Spurs’ 1–1 draw with Sunderland, having picked up the injury early in the contest. Subsequent medical assessments confirmed damage to the tendon in his quadriceps, ruling him out until after the March international break.
Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank confirmed the extent of the injury, revealing that Kudus’ recovery timeline would see him return only when league action resumes in mid-April.
Kudus, who joined Spurs from West Ham United in a £55 million deal last summer, has scored two Premier League goals for the North London club this season. His absence is expected to test Tottenham’s attacking depth during a crucial phase of the campaign.
The injury also represents a major blow for Ghana, with Kudus set to miss the Black Stars’ international friendly against Germany scheduled for March 30 in Stuttgart. The match had been earmarked as a key part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana have been drawn into Group L, where they will face England, Croatia and Panama, and the absence of Kudus further complicates preparations. The Black Stars will also be without defender Mohammed Salisu, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.
With two influential players sidelined, Ghana’s technical team is expected to explore alternative options as they continue preparations for the World Cup, which begins in June 2026.
