    How Ghana voted in the 2023 Ballon d’or Awards

    Lionel Messi accepted his 8th Ballon d’Or Award on Monday, he became the world’s best football player for the record eighth time.



    The Argentinian competed for the prestigious award against Erling Haaland who had a remarkable season with Manchester City, where he won the treble and broke records with his goals.

    Messi on the other hand, won the World Cup with Argentina and was instrumental in their historical feat achieved last year in Qatar.



    Journalists all around the world had their say and voted for the player they felt should win the ballon d’Or.

    Ghana’s representative Michael Oti Adjei voted Haaland as his number-one pick for the award, here is how he voted:

    1. Erling Haaland
    2. Lionel Messi
    3. Kylian Mbappe
    4. Kevin De Bryune
    5. Victor Osimhen

    Lionel Messi however won the award over Erling Haaland by 105 voting points:

    • Lionel Messi – 462 total points
    • Erling Haaland – 357 total points
