Grejohn Kyei’s goal rescues a point for Clermont Foot in Ligue 1 clash against Brest

Grejohn Kyei emerged as the savior for Clermont Foot, securing a vital point against Brest in an enthralling French Ligue 1 match.

Entering the game as a substitute in the 66th minute, the 27-year-old made an immediate impact by scoring the equalizer on Sunday.

The first half at Stade Gabriel-Montpied ended in an intense goalless draw, setting the stage for a more eventful second half. Brest took the lead five minutes into the latter period, courtesy of Pierre Lees-Melou’s finish from Bradley Locko’s assist.

However, Kyei had different plans, ensuring his side salvaged a draw on their home ground with a well-taken goal in the 69th minute. This significant contribution highlighted Kyei’s knack for scoring, marking his second goal in 17 appearances this season.

The match witnessed late drama as Elbasan Rashani and Marco Bizot were both sent off in the closing moments, adding to the intensity of an already captivating encounter.

Despite Kyei’s heroics, Clermont Foot remains rooted to the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings with 16 points from 21 matches. With no wins in their last three outings, the team now shifts their focus to a comeback as they prepare to face Rennes on February 18, 2024.
