GPL: Reason why Ebusua Dwarfs-Legon Cities game was abandoned

The game between Ebusua Dwarfs and Legon Cities in Cape Coast was abandoned on Sunday afternoon after the match officials refused to return to the pitch for the second half.

Legon Cities official Twitter handle tweeted and stated that the referee’s failure to report to the pitch in the second half was due to threats he received from the home fans as the referee didn’t “feel safe to continue”.

Referee Alpha Adey is refusing to continue the 2nd 45 minutes of our game against Ebusua Dwarfs after receiving all kinds of threats from fans and some 'officials'.Referee says he does not feel safe to continue. 2nd half delayed by over 25mins now…Sad.#Gpl.

After the tweet, the home side Ebusua Dwarfs used their Twitter handle to deny news that fans threatened the officials during the game in Cape Coast.
