GHPL: The officiating contributed to our defeat – Great Olympics coach George Koffie

Accra Great Olympics coach George Koffie was not a fan of the officiating after his side suffered a narrow defeat at home on Sunday against WAFA SC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

WAFA SC stood firm to protect their 1-0 lead till the end of the game much to the frustration of the coach and fans of the home side who believed the referee wasn’t fair to them.

Great Olympics were denied a penalty when Godfred Awako was brought down in the opponent box, the entire stadium screamed for a penalty but the referee thought otherwise and waved play on.

After the game, George Koffie didn’t hide his disappointment in the officiating as he believed the referee contributed to their defeat.

“Usually I don’t talk about officiating but the referee’s performance today was abysmal and he contributed to our defeat,” George Koffie said after the game.

Great Olympics drop down to 13th on the league table after their Sunday defeat.
