President Nana Akufo-Addo has given Hearts of Oak 1 million Ghana cedis to support the Ghanaian champions Africa campaign.

The board led by Vincent Sowah Odotei paid a courtesy call on the president on Tuesday afternoon at Jubilee House.

The meeting was initially scheduled for last month but was rescheduled because the president was on duty outside the country.

The club presented the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup trophies they won last season to the President.

He was impressed with the success chalked by the Phobians on the local scene and urged them to make the country proud on the continent.

Hearts are still in Africa albeit in CAF Confederations Cup after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League following a bad loss to Moroccan champions Wydad Casablanca.

They play Algerian JS Saoura in the first leg of Confederation Cup play-offs on Sunday hoping for a good result that can propel them to the group stage for the first time in over a decade.
