GHALCA hosts ‘Legal Affairs’ seminar for its welfare body members in Accra

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) hosted a seminar titled ‘Legal Affairs’ for its welfare body members in Accra on Tuesday. The primary objective was to provide football clubs in the West African nation with knowledge on legal issues related to the sport.

Taking place at Wesley Towers in Accra on November 14, 2023, the seminar featured resource persons from both Portugal and Ghana who conducted various sessions for the attendees.

Representatives from Premier League, Division One, and Women’s football clubs participated in the one-day event.

Kudjoe Fianoo, Chairman of GHALCA, addressed the participants during the “Legal Matters in Sports” seminar, highlighting the importance of legal awareness in the sports industry.

Fianoo welcomed attendees, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the event that brought together different tiers of football in Ghana.

He recognized the significance of legal considerations in the day-to-day operations of football clubs and leagues.

GHALCA’s recent initiatives showcase its commitment to extending activities beyond boardrooms.

The association has been proactive in providing capacity-building training for its members, ensuring that key stakeholders possess the necessary knowledge to navigate the legal complexities of the sporting world.

In a collaborative effort, GHALCA partnered with other sports bodies to facilitate a two-day residential training program for its members.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing governance standards and legal understanding within the Ghanaian football community.

Beyond sports intricacies, GHALCA demonstrated broader civic responsibility by participating in a seminar addressing the critical issue of combating terrorism.

The association presented a paper to Parliament, advocating for legislation to safeguard supporters against potential terrorist attacks within stadiums.

GHALCA’s proactive stance showcases its dedication not only to the growth and development of football but also to the well-being and safety of its fan base.

The association’s multifaceted approach, encompassing legal education, collaborative training initiatives, and contributions to national discussions, establishes GHALCA as a pivotal player in the holistic advancement of football in Ghana.

The speakers at the seminar were Mr. Enam Dzakpasu Esq from Ghana and Mr. Goncalo Almeida and Mr. Andre Duarte Costa, both from Portugal.
