    Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions have been purchased by German Football legend and 1990 World Cup winner Lothar Matthäus, Sahara Football understands.



    Lothar Matthäus bought the club alongside two partners; players’ agent Oliver Konig and Ghanaian footballer Frank Acheampong.

    The Bayern Legend is currently in Ghana for the unveiling and introduction to the entire Accra Lions team and technical staff.

    Accra Lions was valued at around €2 million.

    “Of course, It is a business model. Ghana has always had a huge potential of talent, you can see that in the national team” Lothar Matthäus said.



    Speaking about his plans for Accra Lions, Lothar Matthäus reveals his plans of nurturing young talents and introducing them to European football.

    “We want to bring young players to Europe; on a serious path and already well trained. That’s why investments are also made here in the training area”
