Ghana Blackstars secured passage into the next round of the ongoing World Cup qualification after topping a group that housed the likes of South Africa, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

The back line composition of Rahman, Yiadom, Djiku, Amartey gave an assured performance on a day the country needed to pick maximum points. I must say that they didn’t disappoint giving off their very best to the admiration of fans who applauded them for their outstanding display.

In the heart of midfield, Wakaso – Iddrissu got the nod to stare of which they formed a double pivot. The pair on most occasions forced the opposition, South African side into many errors, their energy on the day was superb as they launched into tackles, interceptions, and progressed play at some quarters of the game.

The attacking force of Kudus replaced by Kofi Kyereh, Ayew, Jordan, Kamal put in a shift worthy of commendations. Ayew was relentless in his approach to ensure the team was in pole position to qualify for a play-off, Jordan divides opinions whenever he dons the national colors, his indecision in the final third is continually a source of worry but his hold up play is top-notch.

The play-offs are not for the faint-hearted, the Blackstars will have to play above their normal weights having qualified tops of the group considering sides like Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria are all teams they are likely to face.

Ghana will await to see who they will play in a two-legged tie in the coming days when the draw is conducted in Cairo, Egypt.
