The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Friday, January 23, 2026, officially launched the maiden edition of the FIFA U15 Girls Regional Colts League at the GFA Conference Room in Accra.
The competition, introduced under FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme, is aimed at creating a structured and competitive pathway for young female footballers while strengthening talent identification and grassroots participation across the country.
The launch ceremony brought together key stakeholders in women’s football, including FIFA Consultant Thuba Sibanda, members of the GFA Executive Council, Regional Football Association Chairmen, administrators, and technical experts. Also present were GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, General Secretary Prosper Addo, GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, and Dr. Charles Osei Anto, Chairman of the U15 Girls Management Committee.
Speaking at the event, President Simeon-Okraku reaffirmed the GFA’s commitment to youth development, announcing that each of the 10 Regional Football Associations will receive GHS 80,000 to support the organization of the league’s maiden season.
The league will kick off in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions this weekend. Greater Accra fixtures will be played on Saturday, January 24, at the La McDan AstroTurf, starting at 10:30am, while the Eastern Region matches will take place on Sunday, January 25, at the Koforidua Technical University Park, beginning at 8:00am.
Each match will last 50 minutes, played in two halves of 25 minutes, with four matches scheduled per day in each region.
Teams participating in the Greater Accra Region include Ridge City W., Ideal Ladies, Accra Ladyz, Epiphany New Gen., Cabfix Ladies, GA West Ladies, Dangme South Ladies, and Rock Ladies.
The Eastern Region will feature Rootz Sista FC, Arthur Wasser FC, Unick FC, Solid Rock Ladies, Eufold Ladies, Kotoku Rush Ladies, Okyeman Girls FC, and Obiri MMA Ladies.
The introduction of the U15 Girls Regional Colts League marks a major step in building a sustainable future for women’s football in Ghana by providing young players with early competitive exposure and a clear development pathway.
