FIFA adds Ghana’s famous ‘Dondo’ drum in FIFA Museum collection

FIFA has announced that the unique beat of Ghana’s “dondo” drum, which played a key role in the Black Stars’ pre-match rituals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is now housed in the FIFA Museum collection in Zurich.

The drum, a powerful symbol of Ghanaian culture, was prominently featured during the team’s pre-match warmups or “jama” sessions, fostering a strong sense of unity and camaraderie among the players.

Even though the Black Stars  were knocked out in the group stage, Ghana made a lasting impact with their vibrant cultural performances on and off the field.

With the “dondo” drum as a focal point, Ghana is poised to participate in upcoming tournaments such as the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
