Asante Kotoko and the management team of defender Abdul Ganiyu are currently in talks to sort out the future of the player, Sahara Football understands.

Contrary to several reports on Tuesday, Abdul Ganiyu is still a Kotoko player as his management continues to talk with the club to reach a decision on the player’s future.

The player who failed to travel with the team for pre-season was recently stripped of the captain armband after the team left for Sudan for the second phase of their pre-season.

Sahara Football understands the player wants to leave the club and his agents and Asante Kotoko are still in talks but haven’t reached an agreement as of Tuesday 30th August.

Ganiyu and his agent are hoping talks will accelerate and conclude before the end of the month.

The former Kotoko captain is looking to move on after helping the club win the league title last season.
