    Ex Black Stars coach, C.K  Akonnor reveals Netherlands star Cody Gakpo rejected Ghana when he was approached.


    former Head coach of the Black Stars C.K Akonnnor has revealed that, Gakpo was approached during his time as head coach to play for Ghana.

    Akonnor, talking on Super sports said : “Yes we tried to get him to play for Ghana but ended up rejecting us for Netherlands.This was about a year ago when he was at the junior level”

    Gakpo was on target for the Netherlands against Senegal after beating Mendy with a well timed header.

    The PSV captain has 33 goal contributions this season. He was heavily linked with a move to the EPL but PSV held unto him.

    Netherlands play Ecuador on friday, 25th November 2022.
