Eric Esso signs for Kaya FC in Philippines

The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has officially joined the Filipino champions on a free transfer following his recent departure from Ghanaian powerhouse Hearts of Oak.

Esso completed his move to the Southeast Asian nation on Saturday after successfully undergoing a mandatory medical examination and finalizing contractual formalities.

Esso has now committed to Kaya on an initial short-term deal, with the option for extension beyond the current season.

During the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, Esso made just eight appearances before parting ways with Hearts of Oak during the second transfer window.

In his earlier stint with the Phobians last season, Esso featured prominently, playing 30 matches in the Ghanaian top-flight after joining from AshantiGold.

Kaya, based in Iloilo City, Philippines, competes in the Philippines Football League, the country’s top football division. The club boasts one league title, three Copa Paulino Alcantara triumphs, and one UFL Cup victory.
