Coach of Hearts of Oak, David Ocloo admits his team’s race for the title is over.

David Ocloo, the coach of Hearts of Oak, has acknowledged that his team cannot win the Premier League championship this season following their heavy 5-1 defeat at home to Medeama on May 21, 2023.

Medeama surpassed Aduana to take the top spot in the league standings after demolishing Hearst of Oak 5-1  at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Medeama demonstrated their serious intent by taking the lead in the 17th minute through Derrick Fordjour. However, Hearts of Oak managed to equalize with a penalty scored by Salifu Ibrahim in the 31st minute.

Just a minute later, Medeama regained their lead when they were also awarded a penalty, which was converted by Vincent Atinga. Jonathan Sowah added another goal before halftime, making it 3-1.

Hearts of Oak started the second half strongly, but Medeama did not crumble under pressure. Sowah scored his second goal in the 84th minute, effectively sealing the game for Medeama. Five minutes later, Kwasi Donsu added to the Phobians’ misery by making it 5-1.

Ocloo admitted that Hearts of Oak now have no chance of winning the league title. Speaking to StarTimes after the match, he said, “Yeah, yeah, it is over. We now play to secure a respectable position.”

Hearts of Oak currently sit in 7th place in the league standings with 45 points, trailing the new leaders, Medeama, by 8 points.
