Coach Basigi explains Black Princesses will not underrate any team

Yussif Basigi, the coach of Ghana’s U-20 Women’s national team, has stated that his team will not become overconfident in any of their matches as they seek to claim victory in the inaugural Women’s U-20 WAFU Cup, set to take place in Kumasi.

Competing against teams such as Ivory Coast, Benin, and Nigeria, among others, the tournament will be held over two weeks from May 20 to June 4.

Although acknowledging Ghana’s potential to succeed in the competition, Basigi recognizes the importance of not underestimating his opponents.

He explains that as a coach, he has set personal targets and must be cautious when facing competitors to achieve his goals.

“I have set targets for myself since we were entrusted with hosting the tournament and I will strive to fulfill them. This is what motivates me.

“Pressure is an inherent part of the game but it will not overshadow my responsibilities. Instead, I will use it as a guiding force to work towards achieving our objectives.

“This time around, I will say all the countries are doing well. You can’t underestimate any country inasmuch as we have the talents in Ghana.”

The Black Princesses will commence the tournament by playing against Benin on the opening day, followed by a match against Ivory Coast one week later.
