Chris Hughton believes Ghana knows what it takes to beat Mozambique

Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton, has expressed optimism in his team’s capacity to secure victory against Mozambique in their final group match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars must secure a win in this match to advance to the round of 16, following their inability to win their first two group games.

While acknowledging the anticipated difficulty of the match against Mozambique, Hughton underscored that his team is well-aware of the requirements for a positive outcome.

He stated, “The players know what it will take to get a result. There are no easy games in this tournament. We have to be physically and mentally prepared for this.”

Ghana’s initial match against Cape Verde resulted in a 2-1 defeat, with a late goal conceded due to a mistake by Mohammed Salisu. In their second game against Egypt, two errors led to equalizers for the record winners, concluding in a 2-2 draw.

Currently positioned third in Group B with one point from two games, Ghana needs a victory against Mozambique to advance to the knockout stages. Hughton’s team recognizes the need to perform at their best to overcome the challenge posed by Mozambique, who are also vying to progress from the group.

The match between Ghana and Mozambique is scheduled to occur at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe on Monday night.
